Why not extend your trip to East Earl into a weekend vacation? There is so much to explore in the Lancaster County area, from Hershey to Philadelphia to Amish country. We've listed some recommendations and personal favorites to get you started.
Enjoy an array of medium-difficulty day hikes in Money Rocks County Park. The highlight of the area is a rocky spine of boulders called Money Rocks, named during the Civil War when farmers in the Pequea Valley allegedly hid cash behind the giant rocks to protect their savings from invading Confederate soldiers. As the legend goes, the farmers hid their money so well that they could not find it when they returned. Let the treasure hunt begin!
Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve is just minutes from our wedding venue in East Earl. It features short, easy day hikes to several overlooks of Lancaster County. We recommend the vista at the end of the White Trail, which offers a nice view of surrounding Lancaster County farmland.
30 miles south of our venue, Susquehannock State Park rises high above the Susquehanna River Valley, offering 2.76 miles of moderate and difficult network of hiking trails. The park is renowned for its cliffs and rock outcrops that provide expansive river views. Be sure to check out the Pinnacle Overlook: from there, you can take the Conestoga Trail downhill to your left (towards Kelly's Run and several waterfall views) or to the right (towards House Rock).
